Forging a New Narrative from the Ashes of Restriction.

Imagine transforming bad memories into personal expressions of power. Our custom jewelry journey will soon invite you to craft a unique piece that tells your story.

  • Close-up of a jewelry artist's hands shaping a green wax mold with a metal file, focusing on the detailed work in the jewelry-making process.

    Wax Sculpting

Using a combination of hard and soft wax, we meticulously carve, file, fuse, and sculpt a wax version of the jewelry piece to be made.

  • Orange sapphire set in a wax ring for lost wax casting with stones in place

    Stone Setting

Unlike most gemstone jewelry, we cast impurity rings with stones already set in wax. Molten metal flows around the stone, creating an organic, secure setting.

  • Jewelry workshop setup showing a melting crucible with green flame and a torch, surrounded by tools and materials. A hand holds a tool over the crucible in the metalworking process.

    Casting

The wax ring is encased in plaster and burned away, leaving space around the stone. Molten metal is poured in, forming a metal replica of the wax design.

  • Modeled photo of a sterling silver cast vulva "impurity ring" with layered petal focal and small periwinkle sapphire center. Yoni ring made by Alison Jefferies for Impurity Culture Jewelry.

    Finalizing

After casting, heavy cleanup of the metal, and final polishing, the jewelry piece is finished and ready to meet its proud new owner!

FAQs

Do I have to have experience with purity culture or evangelicalism to wear Impurity Culture jewelry?

No! Although this line was developed with a specific group of people in mind, if it resonates with you it is also for you. The way we see it, purity culture is a specific outgrowth of patriarchy. Patriarchy isn’t limited to this one subculture; it is everywhere and affects everyone. If Impurity Culture helps empower you against patriarchy in your own life, it’s for you!

I like a ring in your shop but it's not my size. Can I order it in a different size?

For now, we are only selling jewelry that has already been made (no customs) so each ring is only available in the size it's listed as.

We have big plans for 2025, though, including made-to-order designs that can be made to your size as well as fully custom options. Check back often for updates, and be sure to sign up for our email list to be notified when new options are added!

What is your return policy?

Jewelry may be returned for a store credit if it is sent back in new condition with its receipt and original packaging within 30 days of the original purchase. Store credit for jewelry received as a gift will be issued, if the item in question is still being sold in our online shop, at the item's current selling price.

Any piece of jewelry you purchase comes with a guarantee that it will last you in a durable way. If your piece breaks due to regular wear and tear within six months of purchase, just send it back along with your receipt and we will replace or repair it for free. Returns after the six months mark will be done on a discretionary basis with applicable fees determined by case.

How should I care for my Impurity Culture jewelry?

We recommend taking off your jewelry before you sleep, shower, sweat, spray (perfume, hairspray, sunscreen), or swim to make sure it stays shiny and strong.

An easy and inexpensive way to clean your jewelry is to use warm water with gentle soap and an old toothbrush. Dry it off with a lint-free cloth.

Do you make any other kinds of jewelry?

Yes, but it's somewhere else! Ali Jefferies, the owner and artist behind Impurity Culture, is a full time professional jeweler with a separate jewelry line under the name J'Adorn Designs. Click here to check it out!
